Hello, all -
After decades of city riding with nary a mishap beyond the expected road rash here and there, I took my bike out for the first time this spring, had a nice ride, and on the way home suddenly had to swerve to keep from hitting an older person pushing a shopping cart. Fell right over sideways at basically zero mph, and cracked several ribs.
So, during the long recovery since, I wondered what kind of body protection recreational cyclists are known to use. I have a friend who uses elbow and knee pads, which is all fine. But was looking at various types of core body armor that's marketed more to skateboard-type athletes. Some are described as very lightweight, remaining soft until hardening on impact, etc.
Anyone have experience or recommendations on this type of accessory? Might help me get back on the bike sooner, and with more confidence.
Thanks, JW
