We like the Bike Jumble (in fact 5BBC will have a table at the event): There is always something to buy, from a $5 saddle to a beater bike for $40 bucks that you can safely leave locked and even unlocked outside your building knowing that the best of thieves will snub their noses at it. To get to the Jumble, though, we head south on the Hudson Greenway, over to the East Side and Pier 11 for a ferry to Red Hook, then pedal to the Stone House in Park Slope. Vinny's of Carroll Gardens is our preferred lunch stop before we head down to the waterfront again, hop on the Governor's Island ferry, do a loop around the island, and then ferry over to the Manhattan side for our return trip to Chelsea Piers, where the ride ends. (For connections back to Brooklyn, Queens, Upper East Side, or the Bronx, Pier 11 NY ferry service will take you closer to home for a mere $3.75.)

Three (or more!!!) ferries, majestic harbor views, a great lunch, bike sales galore, and a late morning start. What's not to like? The ride ends -- depending on how long we shop, how long we lunch, and which ferries we take -- around 4:30, 5 PM. Could be earlier, but definitely not later.
