Transportation: self-contained. Start Point: right outside Port Imperial Ferry; just off of Hudson River Path at 39th street.

Advanced moderate: 49 miles each way with some very steep hills. [Little Tor Hill has a 9.9% grade, .8 miles long]

Our host for this adventure-filled weekend is rustic Camp Thendara, a 90-year-old mountaintop lodge on Lake Tiorati in Harriman State Park. 49 hilly miles from midtown Manhattan on Saturday, going “self-contained,” meaning we’ll carry all our gear on our bikes. A rear rack and panniers to carry your gear are recommended. Sunday offers a variety of options: swimming, boating, hiking, biking in the park, or just relaxing. (Bring your swimsuit and sandals!) Two home-cooked breakfasts, two dinners and two trail lunches are all included in the price. Guests at Camp Thendara prepare their meals together and perform light clean-up chores. On Monday, we will bike home via a different route, with plenty of quiet back roads. 

Price includes breakfasts and dinners at the Thendara Lodge, plus one trail meal. A rear rack and panniers (or comparable travel packs) to carry your gear are required. Please note that we do not have SAG vehicles or an easy non-cycling return. Cyclists must wear helmets, bring plenty of fluids, carry spare inner tubes, and bring adequate rain gear.

$200 per person until sold out. Please email me after you register: dvonhoppe@icloud.com. We may start on the beautiful ferry ride to Port Imperial; that ticket is about $12, payable at the ferry.

Note: We have added an option to allow friends of the cyclists to join the trip! The price is the same. The only catch is that you have to arrange your own transportation to/from the camp, e.g. car pool or train.
