Mastic Manorville Plus

Fall Foliage Version
Fall Foliage Version
Monday, November 1, 2021 - 09:30

This is an expanded and very revised variation of rides we have previously listed that headed to the Moriches, Manorville and Calverton from the Mastic Shirley LIRR train station.  This variation is to see the early fall foliage.  All variations are absolutely wonderful, fun, scenic rides with lots of long stretches of riding and a few special stops along the way.   It's a mostly fairly flat with some mostly rolling hills.  Ride is 45-50 miles depending on  the variation chosen with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain and no grade above 4% .  As we said, we have done variations of this ride and each variation has proven enjoyable and popular with some nice scenic sections and some excellent extended riding sections.  If lucky we might even see the llamas.

The ride is accessible by automobile or LIRR. We meet at the Mastic Shirley LIRR station at 9:30 (a train arrives close to the start time). Also, the ride is an advanced moderate ride with no real bailouts, so please be able to ride at 14mph on the flats.

Normally, we would stop and pick up lunch, but under the current circumstances, there will likely be no lunch pick up. We likely will stop for lunch by the PeconicRiver.   So please bring your lunch, snacks and sufficient hydration.  Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore new and unknown areas and enjoy the nascent change in foliage .

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register.  Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot.  All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
