Mastic to Wildwood
Primary tabs

Unfortunately, due to a change in the LIRR train schedule, the ride has to be moved from Friday the 10th to Saturday, September 11th.
This is an expanded and very revised variation of rides we have previously listed that headed to the Moriches, Manorville and Calverton from the Mastic Shirley LIRR train station. This variation heads all the way north to Wildwood State Park. All variations are absolutely wonderful, fun, scenic rides with lots of long stretches of riding and a few special stops along the way. Wildwood adds a new dimension. In other words this is a ride not to be missed. It's a mostly fairly flat (some mostly rolling hills) 50ish mile ride with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain and no grade above 4% . As we said, we have done variations of this ride and each variation has proven enjoyable and popular with some nice scenic sections and some excellent extended riding sections. This variation in addition to adding Wildwood includes part of the bike path on the old Grumman property (and a stop by the Grumman Memorial Park). And to top everything off, on the way out you can get a sweet treat at the always amazing Nettie's.
The ride is accessible by automobile or LIRR. We meet at the Mastic Shirley LIRR station at 9:15. Also, the ride is an advanced moderate ride with no real bailouts, so please be able to ride at 14mph on the flats.
Normally, we would stop and pick up lunch, but under the current circumstances, there will be no lunch pick up. We will have a brief stop early in the ride at Nettie's if you want a sweet treat. If you have not been there before, Nettie's is an amazing bakery and a special compound. Later in the ride we will stop for lunch either by the PeconicRiver or at Wildwood State Park. So please bring your lunch, snacks and sufficient hydration. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore new and unknown areas.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register. Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot. All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
