Summer Streets to Marcus Garvey Park

Manhattan Semi-Perimeter Spin

Saturday, August 14, 2021 - 09:15

Let’s spend our Saturday doing some of the things we love best: riding together, enjoying beautiful waterfront views along NYC’s finest greenways, and enjoying a casual picnic in a shaded park.  We’ll also take a slow roll through a portion of Summer Streets, where we will visit some of our fellow club-members at the 5bbc table!

Overview of The Route:

Our ride will begin in Brooklyn at Grand Army Plaza.  We’ll bike over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan and up the East River Greenway until heading inland to Park Avenue to enjoy a few blocks of the Summer Streets event.  We will then continue uptown and once we get to Harlem, we’ll grab lunch to go from Sister’s Caribbean Cuisine and enjoy a picnic in neighboring Marcus Garvey Park.  Did you know that the park has the only surviving cast-iron fire watchtower in NYC, dating back to 1857?  This watchtower was made a NYC landmark in 1967.   After lunch,  we’ll make our way west and ride down the Hudson River Greenway, all the way back down to the tip of Manhattan and back into Brooklyn over the Manhattan Bridge.
