Wonders of Woodhaven - Historical Markers and Much More

Join us as we ride to scenic Highland Park to the Ridgewood Reservoir with amazing views and high elevation. We will be passing by Highland Blvd mansions and a Carmelite Monastery. Our riding continues to the neighborhood of Woodhaven to see some historic places and markers: The Woodhaven Library, which was built almost 100 years ago by funds provided by famed philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, The Betty Smith house, where the novelist famous for writing “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” once lived, a marker by a house that Mae West lived in as a child, then by historic Neirs Tavern. Onward to the Forest Park greenway passing the golf course, bandshell and carousel, then through Forest Hills Gardens and by the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium. We will pick up lunch to eat in Forest Park.
You must be comfortable riding on city street and there are some hills. You must be able to maintain a speed of 12 mph on the greenway, THIS WILL BE A MODERATE LITE AND WILL ACCOMMODATE HAPPY FACE BUT YOU MUST BE ABLE TO KEEP 10MPH IN THE BACK .
Make sure your bike is in good working order. Please bring your helmet, mask, spare tube and hydration and please dress properly for the weather.
We will be starting near Prospect Park.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register for the ride and that the exact start location will be forwarded to the registered riders. Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot. All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
