Brooklyn Ramboling - - And Baker's Dozen Parks
Primary tabs

Meandering ride via as many bike lanes as possible, to visit multiple Bklyn neighborhoods and many of that borough's good parks along the way. Our greenery displays will include: Bklyn's oldest park (the original "City Park"); two Olmsted/Vaux (landscape architects/creators of Manhattan's Central Park) parks; a park created during U.S. Civil War times for use by Army and Coast Guard vets; and one of the first landscaped public sites which was also NYC's biggest tourist attraction [HINT: it's currently better known as a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ y].
Start near Manhattan side of the Manhattan Bridge; finish on Brooklyn side of it. BYO food for an early lunch, or partake of a stop for deli lunch pickup (maybe takeout from IKEA's Bistro/Scandinavian Food Hall, which opens at 11AM).
Our "Moderate" pace will be very steady with very few stops (12-15 MPH, depending on suitability for location); good bike handling, group riding, and urban awareness skills all needed. Ride as a group, no point-drop-sweep unless needed in a few places. Suitable for all bike types, but for sure, no electric assist bike, nor will you need you fanciest 2-wheeled steed. Yet we will have some sustained parts of steady pedaling, so no clunker bikes pls. (FYI, leader is using a hybrid bike with high pressure, 35-size tires, good for cruising and stability, and regular pedals with toe cages.)
Please review 5BBC's COVID riding policies and observe throughout the ride. Remember: no mask/helmet = no ride.
Bring the usuals for bike, sufficient hydration, plus bike lock.
Exact meet place and cue sheet/map will be sent in advance to registered riders. Any cancellation or timing change will be posted by 10PM tto the ride description he prior evening plus communicated to registered riders via email.
