Stamford to New Haven

Sunday, July 14, 2019 - 08:45

Way back in March we went to Stamford.  Let's continue up the coast as we go from Stamford to New Haven!  There are a few hills as we start out but it gets very flat as we leave the vicinity of Stamford.

The days are long, and the route from Stamford to New Haven is only 45 miles.  After we get to New Haven there should still be plenty of daylight left, so for those who want to go a little further we'll take in a little of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail before catching the train back.

RWGPS routes:

Stamford to New Haven

To the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail

From the trail back to Union Station

Meet at Grand Centeral (by the information booth) no later than 8:45 to take the 9:02 to New Haven (9:12 from Harlem 125).  If you miss the group somehow don't spend time looking for them, just get on the train.

Bring the usual: $ for train ticket, $ for lunch, MTA bike pass, bungee cords, spare tubes, pump, etc.  Lights strongly recommended (the day is long but so is the train ride back so be prepared to make your return home in the dark).

If you are planning to get to the start point by a way other than by taking the train from GCT let the ride leaders know by leaving a comment below.
