Going to the Light
Primary tabs

Everyone is familiar with the Internet. Google. E-Bay. Amazon. That's how we find where things are and how to get them to our front door. And, if we want to see them first, how to get to a store. But, how did they do that in the early 19th century? Smoke Signals? Maybe for some. However, if you wanted to get goods from overseas, there were serious hazards landing a ship in a harbor. The answer was a shining light guiding the way. For New York, it meant guiding the ships through the Verrazano Narrows. So, we're going to discover and visit the lighthouses that survived along the Staten Island side. Four survive and ones a ghost. Three are along the shore and one is inland. It acted as depth perception for the others. The ride is along the shore and sort of level except for the one inland. There is a part that is okay to walk. It's all worth it. Even if they've been bypassed by the internet.
