Babylon/Heckscher - A Midweek Long Island Scout (A True Scout)
Primary tabs

The weather for Thursday looks good with temps going into the low 50s. So, we will do a midweek scout of a potential furure ride. This is a totally new ride and hence a true scout as we try to to determine the scenic value of the ride, the suitability of roads, potential rest rooms and food stops. I am sure we will make some wrong turns, both accidentally and deliberately as we explore. Ride will meet at 11:30ish by the Babylon train station on the LIRR and will take a totally indirect, meandering route to Heckscher State Park. Route back is straighter and on more active roads. Depending on time, we may or may not add a 7 mile loop through Belmont Lake State Park at the end of ride. There are trains scheduled to arrive at Babylon at around 11:21 and 11:34. There are quite a few trains headed back to the City from Babylon.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT: In order to participate you must email me and share your cell number. I will confirm your participation and share logistics, especially how we will meet in Babylon. Please bring hydration, snacks, lock, money for train and a potential food shop. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore new and unknown areas.
