Our historical series continues with visit to the house built by Margaret Hardenbroeck and her husband Frederick Philipse, who were both successful merchants during both the Dutch regime of colony of New Netherland, and the British regime of New York.

We will join a walking tour of the (now urban) trace of the river where they sited their manor house, the Nepperhan, later renamed the Saw Mill, after the mills they built.
As we ride back to Manhattan, passing through a tiny portion of their vast lands, we will follow the route they would have taken, and stop at another site they influenced.

We will meet at 9:45am at the Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site, 29 Warburton Ave, Yonkers, to purchase tickets for the tour, which starts at 10:00am.
Participants can ride up to the start on Metro-North, on the train arriving Yonkers 9:22, departing:
Grand Central 8:45am
Harlem 125th 8:58am – One Leader(Carolyn) boarding here
Marble Hill 9:10am
The ride will end at the north entrance to Central Park.
The fee for the walking tour and admission to the Manor Hall is $5.00.
Bring: helmet, lock, water, comfortable walking shoes, $ for admission and lunch, flexible frame of mind.
