Four Freedoms...and a side of Socrates

Saturday, September 8, 2018 - 10:30

We ride first to Socrates Sculpure Park to check out their latest installments.  Sometimes they are great.  Sometimes they are not so great.  Sometimes they are just weird.  But art is always in the eye of the beholder.  We then cross the bridge to Roosevelt Island where we visit a lighthouse, a peculiar Tom Otterness sculpture and Four Freedoms Park.  Four Freedoms is a starkly modern park on the South side of the Island dedicated to Franklin Roosevelt and his Four Freedoms Speech.  [Let's remind ourselves what a real President sounds like.]  We then continue our waterfront ramblings in Gantry Park, still reveling in those great water views.  Lunch will be at the Arepas Grill - great Venezuelan food.

Bring - Lock, spare tube, lunch $, camera [this is a very photogenic ride] and the love of freedom.
