Ramapo Mountains Scout
Primary tabs
There are so many untraveled roads that lead up into the middle of the beautiful Ramapo Mountains. Let's try them all! Return to New York via New Jersey Transit (Suffern station).
The draft route (subject to change until the night before the ride) is linked here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27312876
As this is a quick spin, there will be no point-drop sweep. We will ride as a group, maintain an approximate 19 MPH pace on the flats (of which there are few), and pause to regroup at the top of the climbs. There are no bails after 24 miles.
This is a challenging 128-mile scout with over 10,000 feet of climbing, and no doubt some unpaved road. Wider-than-usual tires are probably a good idea.
Breaks at the 24, 63, 80 and 104 mile marks. Lunch will be either 63 or 80 miles in, depending on how the day is going.
Please bring two tubes and air supply; two water bottles; ample pocket food (note the gap between 24 and 63 mile breaks); and money for trainfare.
