Summer Tune-Up (PLEASE REGISTER IF YOU MIGHT ATTEND!)
Saturday, July 29, 2017 - 10:00 to 14:00

Refresh and improve your basic bike repair skills in preparation for the upcoming 5BBC free bike repair table at Summer Streets.

This class is aimed at:

  • volunteers who want to help fix bikes at the Summer Streets festival on Saturdays 8/5, 8/12, and 8/19
  • anyone who wants to improve their bike repair skills so they can help themselves and others fix the common things that go wrong on the road.

If you're interested in being a 5BBC leader, or volunteering for a local ride like Bike NY or the NYC Century, this class will be a great way to get more comfortable with bike repair!

Please register if you might attend as we need to guage and plan for the number of attendees.

The class will be held indoors at REI at 303 Lafayette St - bring your bike if you can and you want hands on experience!

The class will be held in the REI community room two floors below street level.

We will teach the following:

  • flat fixing: removing and replacing the wheel, finding the source of the puncture, patching and replacing a tube.
  • brakes basics - how to inspect brakes, adjustments, repairs
  • gearing basics - how to adjust and troubleshoot derailleurs

We will run through lunch - please bring your own if you can't wait until 2pm to eat.
