The Old Put and OCA
Primary tabs

Two Great Trails in one Great Ride. All railroads were built by private companies. This one was built in the 1880's and was bought in the Great Depression by the New York Central Railroad (You know, the folks who built Grand Central Terminal.). But, it was beloved by the public and called the "Old Put". So, we take it to Tarrytown. There, we pick up the Old Croton Aquaduct (O.C.A.), New York City's first sustainable water supply. It ran on gravity from the Croton Dam all the way to 42nd St. & Fifth Ave.
We start and finish at 242nd Street & Broadway in Van Cortlandt Park. Hybrids, Mountain Bikes & ATB's are recommended. Bring money for lunch & a Metro-North pass just in case you need to bag it.
