Not ready for the Fall? Do THE Poughkeepsie Century

Saturday, September 17, 2016 - 08:00

Dreading the cold and the shorter days?  Craving another big ride before the days get too short?  Do not want to pay a fortune? We are doing a century ride (102 miles/3,966 ft elevation gain) in upstate New York. The route starts in Poughkeepsie, then on to Gardnier, Dwaar Kil, New Paltz, High Falls, Kingston, and back to the Poughkeepsie train station. The route merges the best of various rides created by Adam Dluzniewski and includes stunning landscapes, rolling hills, down sweeps, and some short and steep climbs.

There are four stops on the route in Wallkill, New Paltz, Stone Ridge, and Kingston where we can refuel, get snacks and take break.  There is not an official lunch stop but there are plenty of restaurants in New Paltz.

This beautiful ride is NOT for hill haters.  The ride overall will be at a slower pace to make sure we can sustain comfortably over 100 miles with a fair amount of climbing.  There are NO easy bail out point.  Make sure you are comfortable with doing a century.  Average speed is 14-16mph (on flat). Road bikes ONLY. Please DO NOT bring heavy locks & gear on your bike. Bring 2 full drink containers or a Camelbak pack.

Meeting Point:

8am at Poughkeepsie Train Station Terminal.

Please, note the first train is not leaving until 6:43 am Grand Central arriving at 8:44 am in Poughkeepsie.  Given the shorter daytime we do need to start at 8am to make sure we arrive at a comfortable time at the station.

How to get there:
