Ride up to Connecticut with the 5BBC. This one way ride starts at Columbus Circle and heads north to Cos Cob. Along the way we will travel on the Hutchinson River Trail through the Bronx and up into Westchester towns of Pelham, New Rochelle, Larchmont and Mamaroneck. We will have a picnic lunch at the Historic Peter Augustus Jay House. This house is currently being restored to its former grandeur. The back porch makes for a perfect spot for a picnic.
Following lunch, we will have one of the most scenic rides in the area. We see how the 1% lives in Rye, visit downtown Port Chester, and then cross the Mill Street Bridge into Connecticut. In Connecticut we ramble through beautiful parkland with manicured lawns and quiet lakes and ponds. You will want to take your camera on this one. We end up at the Cos Cob Metro North Station for the ride back to NYC.
This ride will be keeping a steady pace of between 12-14 MPH. It is about 40 miles and has varied terrain with a couple of decent hills. All standard 5BBC rules apply.
BRING - Picnic Lunch. We may make a stop for beverages, but please pack your lunch as we want to minimize any stops. Bring your MetroNorth rail pass and a bungie cord for the train. And as always - bring a smile and a spirit of adventure.
