Projected dew points of 75 or greater and real feel temps between 105-110, do not make for a pleasant ride or picnic.  So Ken and I will reschedule a Family Store ride for September, probably a reprise of a Family Affair in Yellow Hook. In the interim, if you are out and about, please checkout the 5 BBC table at summer streets.

Let's visit the Family, the amazing Mediterranean food store in Bay Ridge known as the Family Store that is!  We will have two potential start points for our trippers.  The ride will initially meet at 10:00 am at the 5BBC table at Summer Streets. The table is located near 24th Street and Park Avenue South.  After we gather together and do the two minute bike check, we will ride south taking advantage of the car free streets afforded by Summer Streets before turning to head over the Manhattan Bridge.  We will eventually make our way to the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park where those who don't want to head into Summer Streets can meet us at around 11:15 am.  From there, we will meander a bit around some quiet (and some not so quiet) Brooklyn streets and head to the Family Store where we will pick up lunch, which we will eat picnic style in Owls Head Park overlooking the harbor. 

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Please email me at daytrips@5bbc.org if you plan on meeting the ride at Grand Army Plaza. I would also request that if possible everyone register in advance for the ride to make sign-in quicker and easier. Bring the usual requirements along with money for the amazing, but not inexpensive Family Store, along with plenty of hydration and an upbeat inquisitive attitude. The ride will end at the southern end of Prospect Park, but there are usually folks headed back to Grand Army Plaza.
